Hanukkah還有一個傳統是大人會給小孩子錢Hanukkah money,但不是像我們的農曆新年發紅包那樣,而是給銅板而已,有時候甚至用巧克力錢幣來代替真正的錢,我朋友說小小孩還更喜歡收到巧克力錢幣😅,也可以用送禮物來取代。
這個傳統的由來是因為當希臘士兵來突襲猶太人家時,小孩子正在玩陀螺,所以救了他們!
前幾天在逛猶太市場時,就看到照片中的小男孩到處問店家以及路人,我也被他用無辜的眼神問了😅,聽不懂整句希伯來語但大概可以猜他是說 “可不可以給他一些錢for Hanukkah?”
大部分的人都搖頭(因為其實通常是家裡的長輩給Hanukkah money,跟外人要蠻奇怪的),我好奇的看著他挨家挨戶的去問(蠻可愛的),剛好問到一家糖果店,這張照片是糖果店老闆正拿起一個巧克力錢幣搪塞他,而小男孩拒絕的moment😂
It calls 'Dmei Hannukah' (it usually money but it can be a present too). 
Kids are getting that to edicate them for charity (although I don't think that any of the kids give his/her money for charity 😅)
And my granda told me now that she once heard that we give it to kids since the kids played with the dreidels when the Greek soliders came to Jewish house and by playing with the dreidels they save us! So that's why we give them money 😄
